Hi,

I think it should work if you're using an HTML e-mail message.

I'm not sure if in Outlook you can add an image to a signature that is linked to from the web. It doesn't work in Outlook Express' signatures, but does work fine in the message body.

Is there anyone else that uses Outlook?

Neil.

I use Outlook....

I had a brain wave (not often that happens).....

You need to have Word set as your email editor, mail format set to HTML and the Word HTML Source Editor installed (if you follow the steps it'll tell you if it needs to install it, a simple step which didn't require a CD for me)

Here are the steps:

1) Go to Tools -> Options -> Mail Format
2) Click on signature and select New and give the signature a name.
3) Click on Advanced Edit (This should launch Word)
4) In Word (title bar should have .htm in it e.g. BOINC.htm) go to View -> HTML Source (should launch installer if not already installed)
5) Scroll down to where it says

Code: Select all

<p class=MsoNormal>&nbsp;</p>
6) Replace this with

Code: Select all

<img src="Image URL to your signature">
7) Exit the HTML Source editor and save when prompted. Your sig image should appear.
8) Close the Word window and save if prompted.

If you close all the windows except the Options window and then click on Signatures again and click on the one you just created it should appear in the Preview screen.

If you have signatures to automatically appear in your new messages it there should be a slight delay in loading as it downloads the image from the mirror (unless you have an ultra-quick connection)

N.B.: If you have more than one email account in Outlook, all accounts must have a signature other than <none> as their default, even if it is just two spaces. This'll stop the BOINC stats signature being appended to emails from other accounts that you use and means that the image will automatically show up if you choose to use the signature on an account which isn't the default account in Outlook.

Note: This will send in the email a image of the stats when you downloaded the file from the mirror whilst composing the message. It will not link them to the mirror site - I noted that there was no delay in the image loading when I received a test message I sent myself to a different email account and a slight change in image quality)

Any problems or if you wish to send me a test message, just email [email protected]
