Weirdly enough... Now the Czech part shows it is UTF-8, while all the others show they're ISO-8859-1, so somehow you managed it.

Hi again,

I need to restore the back-up of the FAQ database to get everything working, with the exception of the Czech FAQs.

I have to convert all the existing ISO-8859-1 entries to UTF-8 (somehow) before Czech entries can be added.

I will save the existing FAQs that have been translated to Czech.

Please do not try to add any Czech FAQ entries until I have got it all sorted.

Apologies again,

Neil.

Kind of, I changed the meta tags based on the language being viewed, but this is not a solution as when the data is entered it must be captured in the right encoding and it will make my life easier in the long run.

I will be restoring the back-up in a mo...

Back-up has been restored.

I will work on a solution to get everything working in UTF-8.

Watch this space,

Neil.

Dear all,

Tonight I have converted the BOINC FAQ database and web pages to UTF8 format.

I have kept copies of the old tables just in case.

All the languages can now be used, including Czech.

Apologies for any disruption to service,

Neil.

I tried linking to the pictures from the server, Neil, but then they break.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/ ... accept.png shows OK.

http://boincfaq.mundayweb.com/resources/Install 5-2-accept.png does not show.

I know where the problem lies though and will send you a new rar file with the files.
It would appear your server doesn't like spaces in the file names. ;)

Hi all,

A missed out a hypen in the meta tag for the language format which caused the Spanish FAQs (and probably others) to show the wrong characters in IE. All was ok in Firefox though.

I have now corrected this and all is working fine in both browsers.

Jorden:

Spaces are not allowed in URLs, instead replace them with "%20" and all should work fine. This is the URL encoded character code for a space. Others exist for other special characters as well.

I have received your new images though and I will put these up on the server later.

Cheers,

Neil.

I think I see a problem. All "Windows links" like C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC Data\ show without the backslash! Like C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataBOINC Data

I have now fixed one FAQ to get it to show them correctly, but that would mean I'd have to go by hand through all the others to see where such links got broken.

Hi Jord,

All should be fixed now (in all languages).

Cheers,

Neil.
