Web server move - March 14th, 7:30pm BST

Post by Neil » Mon Mar 12, 2007 11:34 pm

MundayWeb and all its domains will be moving to a shiny new web server, courtsey of my web host Vidahost.com. The new server will be soley for MundayWeb to start off, before new sites get moved over as well.

The new server should offer improved performance.

The move will take place on 14th March around 19:30 BST and should take no longer than an hour.

During the move, the following services will be suspended before the move takes place:

BOINC FAQ
boinc.mundayweb.com
PCFF FAQ
MundayWeb's Forums

During the move, the above sites will display a suspended message, including the BOINC stats banners.

The Cancer (Grid.org) and Seti Classic stats counter sites will remain open up until the move. Both these sites are lightly used in comparison to the others and as a result, the move should not have a large impact.

After the move, it may take a few hours for the DNS changes to propagate.

See you on the other side ;-)

Neil.

The move has now been completed. It may take time for the DNS changes to make their way around the Internet.

My thanks to Dom from Vidahost.com for his help during the move.

Welcome to the new server! ;-)

Neil.

Jeebers... they load almost instantly for me now. Can't you make sure it stays that way? ;)

If only - I think I'm the only site on the new server at the mo, so the lightning performance may not last for long!

Take advantage whilst you can ;-)
