Post by cox »

Hi,

I have a question about our statistics.

I noticed, that the credits of BBC CCE and SIMAP are always wrong.

It probably has something to do with when Neil's script updates the figures. As long as they keep going up, I wouldn't worry.

Nothing to worry about just depends on how often the scripts are updated,

BOINC Stats updates more than over here so there will always be a slight differance between the two.

Hi,

I have just cross-checked your user stats with those reported by each project's HTML stats, and they match.

Your team stats however, are slightly out for some projects.

This is probably due to the age old FAQ... each stats site updates their stats at different times.

My site updates each project once every 24 hours. Other sites update more frequently.

You can find out when each project's stats were updated at http://boinc.mundayweb.com/one/info.php

I noticed, that the credits of BBC CCE and SIMAP are always wrong.

My site updates each project once every 24 hours. Other sites update more frequently.
The project sites in its turn do update their stats at some time.

ones once a day too , others some more frequent ...

This seems to be a timing problem

eg: project site a updates once a day ... say 23:30 UTC
mundayweb updates once a day too ... , say 23:29 UTC
*Clearly the stats of project site a, on mundayweb,
will ever be of yesterday :!:

However IF mudayweb updates was at 23:45 UTC
project site a on mundayweb will shown stats as up-to-date
as of other stats sites that do more frequent stats updates

So, this is a simple mater of finding the UTC time at which each project
site generate their stats ...
and then
programing mundayweb crontab to update that project stats 1 hour later

PS: The time at each project site generate their stats,
is expected to be different to each project

To be honest, if people want more up to date stats, they're welcome to make their own stats system!

At the end of the day, my stats sites and others are never going to be up-to-date with the actual stats, as the XML stats are just snapshots of a project's database.

I don't think Carlos was complaining... I think he was just making an observation. I take his point, but I don't think anything needs to be done at this point in time.
